Chair and Founder
William David McCartney has been the President of Pemcorp Management Inc. since 1990. Pemcorp provides corporate finance and administrative services to private and public companies. He is a former founding partner of Vancouver-based Davidson & Company, Chartered Accountants, and has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia since 1980. He is presently a member of the Local Advisory Committee of the TSX Venture Exchange, the chairman of the audit committee of Mercer International Inc. (NASDAQ: MERC), and director of business development for Dynasty Metals & Mining Inc. (TSX: DMM).
Dr. Geoff Houlton
President, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Houlton qualified in Medicine in Scotland in 1977. After residency training in anesthesiology in 1983 he joined the UK pharmaceutical industry. He has extensive experience in product development in both Europe and North America. In 1987 he became Vice-President of Medical Affairs for Glaxo Canada Inc. and managed all aspects of their local pharmaceutical product development programs. In 1989, the challenges of product and business development lead him to join MDS Health Ventures Ltd.
In 1997 he was a founding partner in BioCatalyst Yorkton Inc, a venture management company. Dr Houlton also served as a Senior Health Sciences Analyst for a number of Canadian investment banks including: Octagon Capital, Loewen Ondaatje McCutcheon and Union Securities Capital Markets Group. In December 2008 Dr Houlton became President and Chief Executive Officer of Heart Force Medical Inc.
Dr. Edward Busse
Edward Busse is a former cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon from Saskatchewan. A native of Shaunavon he practiced medicine in Regina after training at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore (MD) and at McGill University in Montreal (MSc).
He was a member of the medical staff in Regina hospitals from 1969 until he retired. Dr Busse was an associate clinical professor of surgery at the University of Saskatchewan and an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies at the University of Regina. As a fellow of a number of professional bodies, including the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology, he has enhanced cardiovascular and thoracic surgical techniques and improved cardiac pacing technology. He had an active clinical practice, and a busy research agenda, and has 40 years of scholarly publications.
Prior to his consulting career Paul had an extensive background in Information Systems in both North America and Europe. After graduating with a degree in Computer Science and a Masters degree in Systems Engineering Paul held senior management positions with several major companies including General Electric Information Services and President of a very successful digital cable television network Company operating in 40 hospitals in the U.K. In addition, he was the C.E.O. from April 2004 to June 2005 of Texon Technologies, a medical diagnostic Company.
Paul’s consulting now spans over a decade of success working internationally with major financial, pharmaceutical and advertising companies. His facilitation of change programs and development of motivational training has won him acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic. He has worked with all segments of industry and all levels of Government.
